Sonnet Homework:
For your assigned sonnet:
- Copy your sonnet BY HAND onto a piece of paper
- Write the rhyme scheme in the margins
- Add where the logical breaks come in the poem
- Scan the poem for meter
- You should attach a typed analysis of the paper
- Explain IN YOUR OWN words the meaning of the poem (especially as a logical progression)
- Describe some of the literary techniques Shakespeare uses inside the poem
- Metrical substitutions to emphasize words and phrases
- Metaphors
- Word choice
- Memorize your sonnet and recite it in front of the class
